En el puerto comercial de Garrucha se cargan principalmente mármol de Macael, madera y mineral de yeso, "una actividad que demanda actuaciones para la conservación y mantenimiento de las instalaciones portuarias y a las que se les está dando respuesta desde la Junta de Andalucía con proyectos como la reparación del dique, la terminación del soterramiento del túnel de acceso a los muelles comerciales o el diseño del proyecto de integración puerto - ciudad", ha subrayado Fernández-Bermejo.

Una de las actuaciones previstas en Garrucha es la rehabilitación del muelle comercial que, con un importe en torno a 600.000 euros y sus trabajos ya en licitiación, supondrá la reparación de la falta de estabilidad de uno de los muelles del puerto debido a la acción erosiva de los remolcadores. A ello se suma la reparación del dique, también licitada por un importe de 2,1 millones de euros y que permitirá la mejora del manto exterior de la estructura de abrigo, dañada gravemente por los últimos temporales.
La terminación del soterramiento del túnel de acceso al muelle comerciales, en concurso público por 685.240, es otra de las mejoras previstas, cuya fecha de inició se prevé para después del verano. También se acometerá la urbanización de acceso al muelle comercial y varadero en el marco del proyecto puerto-ciudad, una actuación en vías de salir a licitación que completa el tratamiento del paseo marítimo Vera-Garrrucha, resolviendo adecuadamente el acceso rodado al puerto comercial, las travesías comerciales bajo, los tráficos urbanos y los peatonales en superficie. Todo ello se realizará con un diseño que mejore la accesibilidad peatonal y paisajística del puerto y un importe previsto de 630.000 euros.
