Un total de 1.627 afiliados del PP de Almería están llamados a participar en las primarias en las que se elegirá al sucesor de su presidente nacional, Mariano Rajoy, y los primeros en participar en ellas han sido los cargos públicos provinciales, que han votados en las sedes de donde están afiliados, siendo un total de 21 sedes repartidas por toda la provincia .

El secretario general del PP de Almería, Javier A. García, ha destacado que las primarias "no son algo nuevo para nosotros, porque ya las hubo en el anterior Congreso", si bien añade que "entonces solo se presentaba un candidato, y para nosotros sí es nuevo tener más de uno".
García ha dicho que "hoy es el día de los afiliados" y ha querido dejar claro que son ellos quienes tienen en sus manos como quieren que sea "este magnífico proyecto de centro-derecha", por lo que "animo a los afiliados a que acudan a votar".
