La Mesa del Ferrocarril vuelve a movilizarse para exigir mejoras en las comunicaciones de la provincia, y lo hará el viernes a las 19,00 horas frente a la Estación Intermodal de Almería, centrándose en su oposición al traslado provisional de la estación a Huércal de Almería con motivo del corte ferroviario derivado de las obras de soterramiento del paso a nivel de El Puche de la capital.

La Mesa del Ferrocarril sostiene que eso supone "un incremento de media hora en los viajes a Sevilla y Madrid" al tener que hacer un transbordo en autobús desde Almería a Huércal. Asimismo, han observado que en el caso del trayecto a Sevilla, "aboca a un continuo subir y bajar del tren por las distintas obras que se realizan, con las consiguientes molestias para los pasajeros".
Desde la Mesa del Ferrocarril siempre se ha defendido la continuidad de los trenes hasta Almería, ya que junto con Granada, será la única ciudad que se quede sin tren "durante el año o más que duren las obras del soterramiento". Además, han sostenido que "la adecuación de la estación de Huércal ha tenido un coste similar al que habría tenido el montaje provisional de un 'bypass', que es la solución habitual en otras ciudades".
