Carmen es una adolescente gitana que vive en el extrarradio de Madrid. Al igual que otras gitanas, está destinada a vivir una vida que se repite generación tras generación: casarse y criar a tantos niños como sea posible. Pero un día conoce a Lola, una gitana poco común que sueña con ir a la universidad, dibuja graffitis de pájaros y es diferente. ‘El Tren’ se centra en El Coronel Franz Von Waldheim, que se encuentra destacado en París con una misión muy concreta: hacerse con las modernas pinturas francesas, las mismas calificadas de "degeneradas" por los nazis, y cargarlas en un tren con destino a Alemania para el Tercer Reich. Eso sí, ha de tener mucho cuidado de no dañar la carga y, además, tiene de tiempo límite lo que tarden los aliados en reconquistar la ciudad, es decir, poco margen ya que cada vez están más cerca.
