Un vecino del fallecido llamó al Teléfono de Emergencias 112 para denunciar su desaparición tras echar en falta a la víctima a la que vio por última vez en el día de ayer, cuando salió a pasear a sus perros. El alertante sospechaba que el desaparecido pudiera encontrarse en un lago cercano a la Playa de Castillo de Macenas al aparecer sus perros mojados y no hallar pistas de la localización del hombre en cuestión.

Desde el centro coordinador se alertó a Guardia Civil, Bomberos del Consorcio del Levante Almeriense, Policía Local de Mojácar, Protección Civil y a la Empresa Pública de Emergencias Sanitarias (EPES).
Una vez en el lugar, los Bomberos han encontrado y rescatado del interior del lago el cuerpo sin vida del hombre de 68 años de edad. Por el momento, se desconocen las causas que rodean el suceso aunque Guardia Civil ha abierto diligencias para aclarar lo ocurrido.
