El cónsul de España en Filipinas, Fernando Heredia Noguer, ha llamado a primera hora de esta mañaba al subdelegado del Gobierno, Manuel de la Fuente, para comunicarle lo siguiente: misión cumplida. Álvaro Carrión podrá regresar a España en el primer avión que pueda. Este mal sueño ya ha terminado. El subdelegado se lo ha comunicado inmediatamente al padre del chico, que ya conocía la noticia porque acababa de hablar con su hijo, pero que ha recibido la llamada del subdelegado con mucha emoción. Además de alcanzar un acuerdo económico con la familia de la mujer fallecida en el accidente en el que estuvo implicado Álvaro, se ha hecho una intensísima labor diplomática desde la Subdelegación del Gobierno en Almería y a través del Ministerio de Asuntos Exteriores y de los representantes diplomáticos españoles en Filipinas (Taiwán no está reconocido oficialmente como país y España no tiene allí legación diplomática). La pesadilla de Álvaro termina después de 6 meses.

El presidente de la Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno, ha aplaudido la vuelta del joven natural de Olula del Río en una publicación de Twitter, recogida por Noticias de Almería. Moreno señala que es "gran noticia que nos llega desde Taiwán donde ha permanecido retenido el joven almeriense Álvaro Carrión, tras un accidente sin ser culpable del mismo". "Pronto volverás a Andalucía donde te espera tu familia", ha apuntado.
