El aumento del número de camas en el área de observación posibilitaría la creación de un área de corta estancia en espera de pruebas complementarias o la necesidad de valorar la evolución del cuadro clínico con una estancia máxima de 24 horas, evitando así el ingreso hospitalario.

Por último y no menos importante, la puesta en marcha del área de urgencias pediátricas se traducirá en una mejora ostensible de la docencia y formación del personal facultativo y de enfermería (EIRs de Pediatría, Enfermería Pediátrica y Medicina de Familia), que realizan su rotación por la unidad. En lo que se refiere al personal de Enfermería del área de Pediatría, el traslado se realiza con el mismo personal debido a la baja afluencia de urgencias pediátricas que actualmente se están atendiendo. Es decir, 3 enfermeras por turno de mañana y tarde, una para triaje, otra para Observación, y otra para cubrir RCP, 3 consultas de Urgencias, una consulta de trauma con yesos incluidos (que antes se realizaba en el Hospital Universitario Torrecárdenas y que también se traslada), y otra consulta de especialidades.
