La Autoridad Portuaria de Ceuta ha recibido la visita del presidente del Puerto de Almería, Jesús Caicedo Bernabé, a fin de acordar líneas comunes de actuación para ambos puertos. Durante la visita, de la que dejó constancia en el Libro de Oro de la Autoridad Portuaria de Ceuta, se ha celebrado una reunión departamental en la que se han expuesto distintos aspectos como la situación del propio Puerto de Ceuta, las líneas estratégicas de trabajo y las posibles similitudes y acciones comunes para ambos puertos.
Caicedo ha reconocido que muchas situaciones que afectan al Puerto de Almería son comunes con Ceuta, como la caída del tráfico de pasajeros. Almería cuenta con varias líneas de pasaje que unen la península con Marruecos y Argelia que, desde la aparición de la pandemia se han visto canceladas. No obstante, de forma reciente se ha podido retomar la línea de Argelia, aunque ha afirmado que aún queda un largo trayecto para recuperar el descenso sufrido en las líneas, que se cuantifica en alrededor de un millón de pasajeros al año.

Ha reflejado también que, a pesar de las similitudes entre puertos, también se dan hechos diferenciadores y peculiares que diferencian al puerto de Ceuta de otros peninsulares, haciendo referencia de forma muy especial a la presión migratoria, motivo por el que destacó el necesario apoyo del sistema portuario así como la solidaridad de todos los puertos, que se ve reflejado en el Fondo de Compensación Interportuario. En este sentido, todos los puertos andaluces y, por supuesto el Puerto de Almería, han apoyado de forma unánime al Puerto de Ceuta para el acceso a este sistema de financiación y solidaridad, lo que Juan Manuel Doncel, presidente del Puerto de Ceuta, ha agradecido especialmente.

Con posterioridad a la reunión, se ha procedido a la realización de una visita a la zona portuaria, destacando la torre de control, donde se centraliza gran parte de la seguridad, tanto terrestre como marítima, así como la labor realizada por la policía portuaria.
