Antes de su traslado a Almería, este producto de árboles tropicales ha tenido que ser tratado en Maderas San Martín, una empresa de Orense especializada en el tratamiento de este tipo de materiales. La madera ha sido sometida a un largo proceso de secado, ya que es necesario reducir su alto grado de humedad, que es del 80%. Para ello, además del secado natural, una vez que la humedad se reduce al 30%, se somete a un proceso de secado en horno con tecnología de vanguardia.

El paseo peatonal forma parte de la segunda fase de restauración del Cable Inglés. Hasta hoy, la UTE ‘Puerto de Almería’ –adjudicataria de la obra- ha ejecutado y certificado más del 80% de la obra. Entre otras actuaciones, la empresa constructora ha acometido el reconocimiento de la cimentación de las pilas pórtico; el tratamiento de saneado, limpieza y protección de la estructura metálica y de la estructura; el tratamiento de limpieza, consolidación y protección de la fábrica de piedra; el desmontado de las vías férreas, traviesas y elementos de chapa, así como la gestión de los residuos generados. En estos días está ultimando la colocación de las barandillas de seguridad.
