El presidente de Puertos del Estado, Álvaro Rodríguez Dapena, ha visitado hoy el Puerto de Almería, donde, acompañado por el presidente de la Autoridad Portuaria de Almería (APA), Jesús Caicedo, ha recorrido las instalaciones portuarias, y ha conocido las diversas obras y proyectos en marcha. Antes del recorrido por el recinto portuario, y tras firmar en el libro de honor, el presidente del Organismo Público ha mantenido sendos encuentros con directivos de la APA y con representantes de la Comunidad Portuaria.

En la reunión con el equipo directivo de la APA, se ha analizado el estado de situación de los proyectos de integración del ferrocarril en el Puerto de Almería y la construcción de un enlace directo del recinto portuario con la autovía A-7, por la zona de Bayyana. El presidente de Puertos del Estado se ha comprometido a plantear al MITMA la celebración de reuniones para el impulso de dichos proyectos, así como para lanzar el estudio de un acceso directo por carretera al Puerto de interés general de Carboneras, desde la A-7. Jesús Caicedo, que ha agradecido la buena predisposición de Rodríguez Dapena, ha recalcado que la conexión con el ferrocaril “es de vital importancia para el desarrollo del Puerto, y ello a pesar de que está a menos de 500 metros de la estación del ferrocarril”.
El presidente y el comité ejecutivo de la APA han repasado con el presidente del Organismo Público las actuaciones a corto y medio plazo recogidas en el en Plan de Empresa 2021-2025, que en su conjunto suponen una inversión de unos 50 millones de euros. Entre otras actuaciones, destaca el desarrollo de la zona Poniente del Puerto, para el cual está en fase final la redacción de los proyectos de prolongación del Muelle de Pechina y su conexión terrestre con el Dique Exterior, con una inversión de unos 25 millones de euros. El acceso terrestre al Dique Exterior permitirá acoger buques de mayor calado, así como la estancia de plataformas off-shore, mientras que la ampliación del Muelle de Pechina atenderá el creciente tráfico de graneles como el yeso, producto del que Almería es una de las principales productoras del mundo.

El presidente de Puertos del Estado ha visitado también las obras de construcción del nuevo edificio para las dependencias de la Policía Portuaria y de las Fuerzas y Cuerpos de Seguridad del Estado, que actualmente tienen su sede en la Estación Marítima. Con la puesta en servicio del nuevo edificio la APA podrá ampliar la terminal de pasajeros.

El proyecto Puerto-Ciudad ha sido otro de los temas que se han abordado en la reunión, un proyecto en el que una de las actuaciones más destacadas, ya en marcha, es la segunda fase de restauración del Cable Inglés –obras que ha visitado Rodríguez Dapena-. Esta actuación, con una inversión de más de 2 millones de euros cuenta con aportación del 1,5% Cultural de los ministerios de Transportes y Cultura. Jesús Caicedo ha expuesto las gestiones que realiza la APA con el fin de acometer la tercera fase, con la que se pondrá en valor el muelle de carga del viejo cargadero de mineral.

Dentro de las actuaciones para la integración del Puerto y la Ciudad, el presidente de la APA ha anunciado que en breve finalizará el proyecto de redacción de ampliación y adecuación del Muelle de Levante para cruceros, y la recuperación del frente marítimo de Las Almadrabillas. La inversión estimada en las obras de estos proyectos ronda los 25 millones de euros.

En el encuentro con la Comunidad Portuaria, al que han asistido la mayor parte de los representantes de empresas e instituciones que operan en los puertos de Almería y Carboneras, se han abordado asuntos que interesan a los diferentes eslabones de la cadena logística y se han puesto en común los puntos de vista sobre la situación actual del sistema portuario estatal, así como de las expectativas de crecimiento y desarrollo de los puertos que gestiona la APA. En el caso del Puerto estatal de Carboneras, se ha tratado el proyecto Futur-e, con el que Endesa busca alternativas para sus instalaciones y el Puerto, tras el cierre de la central térmica.

Asimismo, en la reunión se ha analizado la repercusión en el tráfico marítimo de pasajeros por el cierre de las fronteras de Marruecos y Argelia, como consecuencia de las medidas contra la covid. A pesar de que el gobierno argelino ha vuelto a abrir sus fronteras en noviembre de 2021, el movimiento de viajeros con el norte de África se ha reducido en más del 90%, en comparación con las cifras de los años previos a la pandemia.
