"Sexting" es un término que implica la recepción o transmisión de imágenes o videos que conllevan un contenido sexual a través de las redes sociales, ya sea con o sin autorización de quien los coloca en el medio. Los delitos relacionados con el sexting pueden ser diversosm y van desde la coacción para que sean enviados como contraprestación a un chantaje, a justo lo contrario, es decir, que unas imágenes enviadas voluntariamente a una pareja, ésta pueda acabar usándolas para amenazar con hacerlas públicas si no se accede a algo, entonces llega la coacción y el chantaje también. La reación de prefiles falsos, o los montajes fotográficos (caras de unas personas en cuerpos desnudos de otras) también forman parte de este fenómeno que está relacionado con diversos delitos. En este caso concreto, el autor del delito amenazaba no solo con difundir imágenes, sino también hacerlo desde un perfil fake que crearía en Instagram.
