Todas las actuaciones que se han realizado buscaban mantener viva la historia y los valores del pueblo gitano como el apego a la familia o el respeto a sus mayores, haciendo partícipe a toda la sociedad de la cultura gitana. Estas actividades tuvieron un carácter más especial en los colegios Federico García Lorca y en el CEIP Nuestra Señora de la Merced.

En el primero, los alumnos de quinto participaron en el cuentacuentos “Partir de Cero”. Seguidamente, un alumno de etnia gitana leyó el manifiesto del día Internacional del Pueblo Gitano. A continuación se reprodujo el himno internacional del pueblo gitano. Durante toda la jornada, tanto alumnado como profesorado mostraron gran interés y entusiasmo, participando activamente en todas las actividades. Para finalizar se pidió al alumnado que hicieran una aportación en la bandera única del pueblo gitano de todos los centros educativos del municipio de Vícar, y entre todas las personas participantes acordaron y escribieron el lema identificativo en representación del centro.
Por su parte, las actividades del CEIP Nuestra Señora de la Merced se trasladaron al Parque del Agua de Los Canos, con una actividad de la asociación Engloba, centrada en la instalación de un puesto de chapas y reparto de pulseras con la bandera del pueblo gitano, himno, estereotipos, sensibilización poster de referentes de la comunidad gitana, lienzos creativos, palabras caló o romaní, actuación flamenca, photocall y buzón de la “gitanidad”. El acto con alumnos de 4º y 5º de Primaria del CEIP N.S. de la Merced se inauguró y se clausuró con la presencia del Alcalde de Vícar, Antonio Bonilla.

La actividad estuvo divida en varias zonas. El Stand denominado “La creatividad a flor de piel”, en el que había unos lienzos para fomentar el arte creativo y que a través de dibujos los escolares pudieran comunicar y expresar emociones. El Stand “¿Nos divertimos?” un stand de chapas, con un Photocall. El Stand “Rompiendo barreras”, en el que se buscaba romper estigmas y prejuicios a cerca de la comunidad gitana. Por su parte, el ”Museo del referente”, el que se presentaba a diversos referentes del pueblo gitano, personas que han tenido un papel relevante en la política, las matemáticas, el arte o el flamenco.

Las actividades tuvieron también lugar en los barrios de La Cimilla, en la Plaza Lola Flores, y en La Lomilla, en el Parque Infantil de la calle María Zambrano, con juegos del Pañuelo, cuentacuentos y Talleres de molinillos de viento y pintacaras, y la actuación en directo de un cantaor flamenco, además de la lectura del manifiesto por un representante de la barriada y la reproducción del Himno internacional del pueblo Gitano. Además, a partir de las nueve de las nueve de la noche del viernes, se procedió al encendido de la iluminación del Ayuntamiento con motivo del Día Internacional del Pueblo Gitano.
