Las obras, con un presupuesto de 358.765 euros (impuestos incluidos), permiten recoger y almacenar las aguas de escorrentía que se generan en esta zona portuaria para evitar su vertido directo al mar. Para la realización de la obra se ha tenido en cuenta el proyecto constructivo realizado por Heymo Ingeniería SAU, del Grupo Técnicas Reunidas SA.

Por las características del Muelle -una superficie de 10.681 metros cuadrados y una topografía con una pendiente de casi un 1%-, las aguas que se recogían hasta ahora se vertían al mar. Para evitarlo, entre otras actuaciones, se ha construido un canal de drenaje que recoge las aguas y las conduce hasta dos balsas construidas a ambos lados de la parcela, balsas que se vaciarán y limpiarán periódicamente.
