Esta tarde se ha celebrado un encuentro entre el secretario general de Infraestructuras, Xavier Flores, la concejala de Urbanismo e Infraestructuras del Ayuntamiento de Almería, Ana Martínez Labella y el presidente de la Autoridad Portuaria de Almería, Jesús Caicedo Bernabé, acompañados por el presidente del organismo autónomo Puertos del Estado, Álvaro Rodríguez Dapena y por diversos representantes del Administrador de infraestructuras ferroviarias, Adif, así como de los respectivos equipos directivos.
En la reunión se han abordado las necesidades de accesibilidad del ferrocarril al puerto de Almería, una conexión que quedó interrumpida con las sucesivas reformas urbanísticas y que se considera relevante recuperar.

Su objeto principal será diseñar de forma consensuada la llegada del ferrocarril al puerto de la ciudad para mejorar la cadena logística y el transporte de mercancías, un aspecto clave para el futuro del puerto y de este tramo del Corredor Mediterráneo en la provincia de Almería.
