En este sentido, Juan Antonio Lorenzo ha recordado las cuantiosas inversiones que ha realizado en la provincia el Gobierno de España durante la etapa en la que De la Fuente ha ejercido como subdelegado, para la construcción de la línea ferroviaria de alta velocidad, con más de 1.000 millones de euros; la mejora de las carreteras, como es el caso del proyecto del tercer carril entre Roquetas de Mar y Almería o el enlace de Viator; actuaciones para la mejora de los regadíos por prácticamente toda la provincia y la generación de nuevos recursos hídricos, mediante la reparación de la desaladora de Cuevas y la ampliación de las de Balerma y Carboneras, además de las mejoras previstas en las depuradoras de Roquetas de Mar, Adra o El Ejido.
