El Muelle de Levante del Puerto de Almería abre sus puertas de par en par a los almerienses y visitantes. Si bien hace tiempo que el espacio portuario más próximo al centro de la ciudad está abierto al uso y disfrute de los ciudadanos, ahora, con el fin de que esta zona sea cada vez más conocida, la Autoridad Portuaria de Almería ha instalado un panel informativo en la entrada al Muelle, en la confluencia con la Vía Parque.
En el cartel, además de recordar que el acceso al Muelle es libre, incluye una invitación en español e inglés a disfrutar de las magníficas vistas de la ciudad, de la dársena y de la bahía que ofrecen el Morro del Muelle y la Escalinata Real.

Asimismo, en el panel se ha incluido un código QR, con el que se puede acceder a la página web de la Autoridad Portuaria y obtener una breve reseña sobre la historia del Puerto y del Muelle, así como de los principales atractivos de esta zona, como son la Torre de Control de Salvamento Marítimo, con sus 51 metros de altura; la Escalinata Real, construida en el siglo XIX, y el Morro, desde el que con solo girar 180 grados sobre los talones, se puede disfrutar de una imagen menos conocida del Cable Inglés, de la imponente Alcazaba, al tiempo que se pueden ver entrar y salir los barcos por la Bocana del Puerto.

Por su compromiso de integración del Puerto en la Ciudad, la APA ha acometido recientemente unas reformas sensibles en el Muelle de Levante, que facilitan la entrada a pie hasta el final del dique. Si bien desde hace tiempo este espacio portuario es de acceso libre para los ciudadanos, con la reordenación realizada se han suprimido obstáculos y se ha ampliado la zona reservada a los peatones, que se ha delimitado de una forma más nítida, con el fin de reforzar su separación de la calzada para vehículos que utilizan el parking público.

Esta pequeña remodelación del dique es una actuación provisional, a la espera del gran proyecto Puerto-Ciudad, que en una fase inicial contempla la ampliación y adecuación del Muelle de Levante para escala de cruceros, y su conversión en una gran zona para instalaciones de ocio, comerciales y culturales, actuación que acometerán la Autoridad Portuaria y el Ayuntamiento de Almería.
