Con ello una vez más el Ayuntamiento de Vícar, a través de su Policía Local, se ha adherido a las campañas que la DGT viene realizando en toda la geografía nacional, dentro de la especial sensibilidad que desde el consistorio se tiene hacia los asuntos relacionados con la seguridad vial. Según un reciente informe del Observatorio Europeo de Seguridad Vial la prevalencia del uso del teléfono móvil mientras se conduce en coche en Europa admitida por los conductores, es del 48% para el uso de dispositivos con manos libres y, lo que es más preocupante, del 29% para hablar por un teléfono móvil sin manos libres y del 24% para leer mensajes de texto o comprobar las redes sociales.
En este sentido, el informe refleja también cómo las acciones que requieren apartar la vista de la carretera o realizar tareas manuales tienen mayor impacto tanto en el comportamiento al volante como en el riesgo de colisión, siendo esta 3,6 veces mayor en el caso de hablar sin utilizar el manos libre, 6 veces mayor al escribir un mensaje y 12 veces mayor en caso de marcar un número manualmente.

Por todo esto, dado que la presencia del móvil en la conducción se ha incrementado de manera exponencial en los últimos años, provocando infinidad de accidentes, la reforma de la Ley sobre Tráfico, Circulación de Vehículos a Motor y Seguridad Vial que entró en vigor el pasado mes de marzo, incrementó de 3 a 6 los puntos a detraer por conducir sujetando con la mano dispositivos de telefonía móvil.
