La consejera de Agricultura, Pesca, Agua y Desarrollo Rural, Carmen Crespo, ha apostado por aprovechar el “binomio campo-mar” que caracteriza a la provincia de Almería para poner en valor a nivel internacional “la agricultura pujante de esta tierra, donde se obtienen productos de alta calidad, con mucho sabor y sostenibles” y, de esta forma, continuar conquistando mercados. “Como apunta el propio sector, debemos contar con un lobby europeo que nos permita visualizar lo que somos”, ha aseverado.

Carmen Crespo ha participado hoy junto a la alcaldesa de Almería, María del Mar Vázquez, y la diputada de Promoción Agroalimentaria, María Luisa Cruz, en la clausura de la muestra gastronómica ‘Almería con Sabor’ organizada por el grupo Hotusa en el Hotel Catedral de Almería. La consejera de Agricultura ha apuntado que “productos de calidad hay en todo el mundo pero Andalucía destaca por contar con 67 figuras de las que siete son almerienses”. Estas declaraciones hacen referencia a las Indicaciones Geográficas Protegidas (IGP) que se corresponden con esta provincia y amparan productos hortofrutícolas (‘Tomate La Cañada’), jamones y paletas (‘Jamón de Serón’) y Vinos de la Tierra (‘Desierto de Almería’, ‘Laujar-Alpujarra’, ‘Norte de Almería’, ‘Ribera del Andarax’ y ‘Sierra de Las Estancias y Los Filabres’). Además de estas denominaciones, diversos municipios almerienses forman parte también de la zona de elaboración de las conservas protegidas por las IGP ‘Melva de Andalucía’ y ‘Caballa de Andalucía’. “Almería tiene mucho que decir en la gastronomía de este país y de esta Comunidad Autónoma”, ha subrayado Crespo.
Asimismo, la consejera ha explicado que los cocineros, que desempeñan un importante papel como embajadores de la gastronomía andaluza en el mundo, conocen también la importancia de que los productos “lleven un apellido” para describir sus peculiaridades. Carmen Crespo ha recordado que la huella hídrica de la producción hortofrutícola de Almería “es 20 veces menor que en el resto de Europa” gracias al buen uso del agua por parte de los agricultores, y ha afirmado que en esta provincia “utilizamos mejor el agua y, además, no utilizamos calefacciones, y eso tenemos que ponerlo en valor”.

En su intervención, Crespo ha aplaudido también la capacidad del sector agroalimentario andaluz para “superarse y reinventarse” con el fin de seguir creciendo, generando empleo y aumentando sus exportaciones, que se han acercado a los 12.000 millones de euros entre enero y octubre de 2022. De este montante, 5.700 millones de euros se corresponden con ventas internacionales de frutas y hortalizas por lo que, como ha apuntado la consejera, estas exportaciones se han elevado en un 10% respecto a los mismos meses de 2021.

Por su parte, María del Mar Vázquez ha destacado que “una promoción turística inteligente tiene que vender lo que tenemos, lo que hacemos y lo que somos, y en Almería somos capital de la gastronomía porque es uno de nuestros factores diferenciales”. Asimismo, la alcaldesa ha puesto en valor “la calidad de nuestros productos, de la tierra y el mar, y de nuestros profesionales”, a la vez que ha defendido el sello de “la tapa, que forma parte de nuestra marca gastronómica y la llevamos por bandera”. En cuanto al sector pesquero, Carmen Crespo ha lamentado que los profesionales de esta actividad estén enfrentando “un momento muy complicado” al verse afectados por cuotas y restricciones impuestas desde Europa. La consejera ha recordado que esta flota, que captura “productos de calidad fundamentales” como las gambas, “ha realizado ya un gran esfuerzo pesquero y ha cambiado las mallas para hacer más sostenible el arrastre del Mediterráneo”.
Crespo ha afirmado que “lo que quieren los pescadores es seguir pescando y que los jóvenes no se aparten de un sector fundamental para nosotros” que, además de un importante peso económico y laboral, tiene influencia en el turismo gastronómico y en la diversificación de las zonas costeras.
