El Ayuntamiento de Vera a través de la Asociación Salvemos el Salar de los Canos y el Territorio ha puesto en marcha la segunda intervención urbana “Murales por el Medioambiente”, un proyecto de concienciación medioambiental y embellecimiento del paisaje urbano del municipio, que está dotando de una nueva imagen y estética a las distintas casetas de los transformadores eléctricos de la empresa Endesa repartidos por el término municipal veratense.

El objetivo de esta iniciativa no es otro que embellecer elementos urbanos deteriorados, como son las casetas de los transformadores eléctricos, donde son comunes los grafitis y la pegada de carteles, y fomentar valores sostenibles desde un punto de vista original y con una importante creatividad artística.
En la primera fase de este proyecto desarrollada el año pasado, se embellecieron tres casetas, dos de ellas ubibadas en Paseo Miguel de Cervantes de la localidad, denominados “Tortuga mora” y “Tortuga Boba” y un tercer mural ubicado en el anfiteatro del Salar de los Canos llamado “Aves del salar”.
En esta ocación la artista Rocío Gilabert, ha desarrollado otros tres nuevos murales. Uno de ellos en el Paseo Miguel de Cervantes denominado “Reptiles”
otro bajo el título “insectos” situado en el CEIP Reyes Católicos y el último llamado “El mar” en la Avenida del descubrimiento, junto al Hotel Reyna.

Rocío Gilabert García (Jaén, 1985) es licenciada en Bellas Artes por la Universidad de Barcelona. A lo largo de su trayectoria artística ha hecho de la naturaleza la piedra angular de sus trabajos. Tanto en el plano teórico con su tesina de investigación acerca de las intervenciones artísticas en la naturaleza, como en el terreno práctico con un amplio currículum donde el medio ambiente, entendido en el sentido más amplio del término, ha sido pieza protagonista de sus creaciones.

Su formación se caracteriza ante todo por la itinerancia. Jiennense de nacimiento y almeriense de corazón ha ido moviéndose a lo largo de su carrera por distintas ciudades. Almería, Granada, Florencia, Barcelona, Berlín, Córdoba y Madrid han sido sus lugares de residencia pero también de trabajo y de todos ellos ha extraído el lado natural que tiene todo lugar habitado.
