Además, en El Ejido “podemos presumir de contar con una rica gastronomía basada en las verduras que se cultivan en nuestros invernaderos con las máximas garantías de salubridad, que gozan de un excelente sabor y propiedades y son auténticos productos gourmet”. En esta línea, cabe mencionar que el principal pilar económico de El Ejido es la agricultura, de ahí que desde el Ayuntamiento se esté trabajando en un Plan de Sostenibilidad que conjuga a la perfección turismo, agricultura y gastronomía, que le permitirá ser un destino diferente al resto del mundo, con “la puesta en marcha de tres importantes proyectos que son el Agriculture Experience Center, un edificio singular que se construirá en Almerimar y que busca adentrar y dar a conocer a los visitantes el modelo de producción y el proceso agrícola ejidense; el Centro de Experiencias Gastronómicas que se ubicará en el antiguo Cuartel de Carabineros y se convertirá en un espacio de referencia que ofrezca al visitante una experiencia culinaria única; y el Jardín Mediterráneo”. A ello se suma que el Consistorio está trabajando en la construcción y puesta a punto de un Centro de Interpretación de Punta-Entinas Sabinar para dar a conocer la fauna y la flora característica que habita en este espacio natural de gran valor ecológico.

Junto a estos proyectos, los alumnos de la UAL que cursan la asignatura ‘Creación de Empresas’ han hecho han hecho una visita al Castillo de Guardias Viejas y a los apartamentos Dream Sea y, también han conocido la experiencia de dos jóvenes emprendedores de El Ejido, por un lado de Armando Rubio, productor audiovisual y director de WIMAO, especializado en publicidad digital y director de marketing en Durán y, por otro lado, de Aníbal García diseñador gráfico especializado en tipografía y gestor de equipos para el desarrollo visual y estratégico de marcas y publicidad, además de ser el director de marca en Alsi ingeniería & innovación.

La jornada que se ha desarrollado bajo el lema ‘Oportunidades de emprendimiento en un DTI’ también ha contemplado una charla sobre El Ejido como Destino Turístico Inteligente al que está incorporado desde el año 2018 y que persigue contribuir a mejorar la competitividad de los destinos y la calidad de vida de los residentes incidiendo en cinco ámbitos o ejes de actuación: gobernanza, innovación, tecnología, sostenibilidad y accesibilidad.
