El PP de Almería capital se enfrenta a unas elecciones municipales que podrían poner en peligro su hegemonía en la ciudad. Los populares, que gobiernan desde hace 20 años con distintos tipos de mayoría, confían en revalidar su victoria con María del Mar Vázquez al frente de la candidatura, con una lista muy renovada y joven. Sin embargo, esta confianza puede ser su peor enemigo, ya que podría provocar una desmovilización de su electorado y una movilización de la izquierda.

La posibilidad de que el PP tenga que pactar con Vox para gobernar es un escenario que inquieta a muchos votantes moderados y que alienta a los partidos de izquierda a intentar arrebatarle el bastón de mando. El PSOE, con Adriana Valverde como candidata, aspira a ser la fuerza más votada y a liderar un gobierno progresista con el apoyo de todo lo que esté a su izquierda. Estas formaciones podrían obtener uno o dos concejales, y sumar una mayoría alternativa al PP si se dan también otras circunstancias.
Una baja participación general, podría favorecer la entrada en el ayuntamiento de otras fuerzas minoritarias como Almería Avanza, de Miguel Cazorla, o que Ciudadanos, de Rafael Burgos, se mantenga con al menos un concejal. Estos partidos podrían tener la llave para decantar la balanza hacia uno u otro lado, y ninguno de los dos pondría reparos a otorgar el bastón de mando a Valverde, siempre que se les asegure a ellos entrar en el equipo de gobierno.

Así pues, el PP de Almería capital se juega mucho en estas elecciones aunque parezca tenerlo todo a su favor. Su exceso de confianza puede costarle caro si no consigue movilizar a su electorado y frenar la opción alternativa. Aunque bien es verdad que es un panorama similar al que se planteó en las autonómicas, y que dió como resultado la mayoría absoluta de Juanma Moreno, pero no hay dos elecciones iguales.

La alcaldesa Vázquez tendrá que hacer frente a una campaña difícil y convencer a los almerienses de que su proyecto es el mejor para la ciudad, no confiar en el aval del pasado, plantearse estos comicios como si la situación fuese la inversa, y su objetivo no fuese mantener la Alcaldía sino conquistarla, encabezando el esfuerzo de que no se quede ni un voto en la playa, por estupendo que amazezca el 28M. De lo contrario, podría verse desbancada por Valverde y sus aliados, que ya sueñan con un cambio histórico en el consistorio.
