El secretario general del Agua de la Consejería de Agricultura, Pesca, Agua y Desarrollo Rural y presidente de la Comisión para la Gestión de la Sequía, Ramiro Angulo, ha informado del acuerdo al que se ha llegado en la reunión de este órgano de seguimiento en la Demarcación de las Cuencas Mediterráneas de Andalucía, celebrada hoy en la provincia de Málaga, para los distintos sistemas de dicha demarcación. Y se han adoptado una vez analizada la evolución de los indicadores y la situación hidrológica existente en esta demarcación. Entre los acuerdos, destaca la aprobación, de forma unánime, de mantener las restricciones establecidas con anterioridad en los sistemas del Campo de Gibraltar de la provincia de Cádiz, La Viñuela en la comarca malagueña de La Axarquía, Benínar y Cuevas del Almanzora en la provincia de Almería.

Asimismo, se ha decidido mantener las restricciones en el sistema de Guadalhorce Limonero, aunque se ha realizad de forma condicionada al comportamiento de la pluviometría de los próximos meses, ya que si no se cumplen las previsiones se volvería a convocar la Comisión para implantar limitaciones de uso del agua en este sistema que, en la actualidad, está en condiciones de escasez moderada y sequía prolongada.
En la Comisión se ha explicado que en el sistema de La Viñuela persiste la situación de emergencia agravada debido a un año donde las precipitaciones han estado muy por debajo de la media histórica. De ahí que se haya decidido seguir manteniendo vigentes las medidas aprobadas y las restricciones en el uso del agua urbana.

De la provincia de Almería, la Comisión ha analizado el sistema de Beninar y Cuevas del Almanzora. En el primer caso, las precipitaciones y correspondientes aportaciones en el presente año hidrológico 2022-2023 se vienen situando muy por debajo de la media mientras que, en el caso de Cuevas de Almanzora, permanece interrumpido el trasvase del Negratín-Almanzora desde el verano de 2021 dado el estado de la cuenca del Guadalquivir y el propio embalse. Por su parte el sistema de Campo de Gibraltar mantiene su situación actual de excepcional sequía y, por tanto, mantiene las medidas de limitaciones de uso de agua que ya fueron implantadas meses atrás.

De otra parte, la Comisión de Seguimiento de esta demarcación ha aprobado la transferencia de un nuevo volumen de agua de abastecimiento hacia los municipios de la comarca malagueña de La Axarquía de hasta 3,6 hm³ en lo que queda de año hidrológico, respondiendo así a una demanda social y de los propios ayuntamientos de estas localidades.

Al termino de la Comisión, el presidente y secretario general del Agua ha querido "agradecer el enorme esfuerzo y la comprensión de todos los usuarios, ayuntamientos, regantes, organizaciones agrarias y asociaciones que realizan ante el mantenimiento de las medidas limitantes del uso del agua, así como el impulso de campañas de concienciación de implantar entre sus poblaciones y asociados un uso eficiente del agua".
Por último, Angulo ha vuelto a recordar que "desde el ejecutivo regional y la propia Comisión se mantendrá un seguimiento continuo de la situación hidrológica y, en función de la evolución, se podrán revisar las medidas aprobadas.
