Se redefine el borde del núcleo de Mojácar con un único crecimiento (sector SUS-3) y se colmata la zona de la Costa al tiempo que se eliminan suelos clasificados por el Planeamiento General vigente (antiguos sectores 1.b, 2 y 11, los dos primeros por pertenecer a la Red Natura 2000).

El Plan, para el total de actuaciones previstas, propone un total de 2.685 viviendas, de las cuales 137 están ya construidas y 2.548 serán de nueva construcción; y de estas últimas 591 serán protegidas. Desde la Junta de Andalucía, la delegada del Gobierno ha destacado que esta aprobación es una importante noticia para el consistorio mojaquero, ya que le permitirá tener un crecimiento regulado. “Se trata de un instrumento básico en el que se realiza la planificación del terreno mediante la clasificación del suelo, el régimen urbanístico aplicable a cada clase de suelo y se recogen los elementos esenciales de los sistemas de equipamientos y servicios municipales” ha detallado la delegada. Para Martín “este documento se emplea como base legal para la edificación y urbanización del municipio”.
Por su parte, la alcaldesa en funciones de Mojácar ha agradecido el “enorme trabajo desarrollado por el Gobierno andaluz porque la aprobación del PGOU pone fin a más de 35 años de espera por parte del Ayuntamiento”. Rosa Mª García Cano ha asegurado que “para Mojácar es una prioridad desarrollar el nuevo Plan General lo que supondrá un avance fundamental para el crecimiento del municipio”.
