El municipio de Abrucena es ya uno de los 28 que, en la provincia, forman parte del sistema VioGen, toda vez que se ha suscrito y publicado en el BOE el convenio entre la Secretaría de Estado de Seguridad del Ministerio del Interior y el Ayuntamiento de Abrucena para la adhesión del consistorio al Sistema de Seguimiento Integral de los casos de Violencia de Género.

A partir de ahora, la Policía local de Abrucena tendrá acceso al sistema VioGen y colaborará con la Guardia Civil en la protección de las mujeres que, en el municipio, sean víctimas de violencia de género.

El protocolo de adhesión se activó a comienzos de abril, después de una junta de seguridad presidida por el subdelegado del Gobierno en Almería, José María Martín, que se celebró el 30 de marzo y en la que el alcalde de Abrucena, Ismael Gil, mostró la voluntad del consistorio de incorporarse al sistema VioGen, de protección a las víctimas de violencia de género.

Tras la aprobación del procedimiento operativo de coordinación entre la Comandancia de la Guardia Civil y el Ayuntamiento, el siguiente paso fue la firma del correspondiente convenio entre la Secretaría de Estado de Seguridad del Ministerio del Interior y el consistorio abrucenero, que tuvo lugar el 25 de mayo, y la publicación de la resolución en el Boletín Oficial del Estado.

Según datos del último boletín estadístico publicado por la Delegación del Gobierno contra la Violencia Genero, 2.657 mujeres de la provincia de Almería se encuentran bajo protección de las Fuerzas y Cuerpos de Seguridad por violencia de género. En 2022, un total de 4.030 mujeres interpusieron denuncia por violencia de género en Almería.
