Almería, con más de 34.000 pasajeros, segundo puerto tras Algeciras con más tránsito en la Operación Paso del Estrecho
Un total de 34.288 pasajeros procedentes de países de la Unión Europea como Francia, Bélgica, Países Bajos o Alemania han utilizado, desde el pasado 15 de junio, el puerto de Almería con destino al norte de África -preferentemente, hacia el puerto de Nador, en Marruecos y al de la ciudad autónoma de Melilla-, dentro del dispositivo de la Operación Paso del Estrecho para este verano.

La cifra es un 135,5% superior a la registrada en número de pasajeros en las mismas fechas del año pasado, 14.562 en total, cuando aún las restricciones impuestas por la pandemia eran más evidentes y aún no se había recuperado la plena normalidad previa al Covid.
En el número de vehículos embarcados también la diferencia es notoria respecto a 2022: 8.923 en apenas 13 días de dispositivo, frente a los 4.081 registrados en idéntico periodo del año pasado.

Con estos datos, tanto en pasajeros como en vehículos, Almería se consolida como el segundo puerto con más tránsito en la Operación Paso del Estrecho tras Algeciras que, desde que comenzó la OPE, ha contabilizado un total de 119.030 pasajeros rumbo a los puertos de la ciudad autónoma de Ceuta y de Tánger, en Marruecos. El puerto de Tarifa es el tercero con más pasajeros en la OPE 2023, con 31.772 a fecha de hoy.

En este sentido, cabe señalar que las navieras Transmediterránea, Balearia, Armas y GNV han incrementado su flota de buques para realizar las distintas rotaciones entre los puertos de Almería y Melilla, Nador, Ghazauoet y Orán.
