Más de 74.000 estudiantes de Infantil, Primaria y Educación Especial volverán a las aulas el próximo lunes, 11 de septiembre, en 246 centros educativos de la provincia de Almería. El día 15 se incorporarán los alumnos de Secundaria, Bachillerato y Formación Profesional (80.454), mientras que el día 20 lo harán los de las enseñanzas de régimen especial (Música, Danza, Artes Plásticas, Diseño, Conservación y Restauración de Bienes Culturales, Arte Dramático e Idiomas), con 7.121 matriculados. En total, este mes de septiembre comenzarán las clases 172.128 estudiantes y 11.999 docentes en 691 centros, tanto públicos como concertados y privados.
Menos alumnos, más profesores
La bajada de la natalidad se refleja sobre todo en las etapas obligatorias de segundo ciclo de Infantil y Primaria, que pierden alrededor de 370 alumnos respecto al curso anterior. Sin embargo, la Junta de Andalucía ha apostado por reforzar la plantilla docente con 145 profesores más de refuerzo, con fondos propios, que se suman a los 10.767 maestros y profesores que conforman la plantilla estructural consolidada en la red pública.

Además, a partir de este mes de septiembre se hace efectivo el segundo incremento salarial del acuerdo de equiparación salarial de los docentes andaluces con la media nacional, alcanzado por unanimidad en las mesas sectoriales. Este acuerdo histórico, que estará culminado en el curso 24/25, supone una inversión de 93,6 millones de euros en este curso y beneficia a más de 125.000 docentes de las redes pública y concertada.

Otro aspecto destacado del nuevo curso es la bajada de las ratios medias de alumnado por aula en los centros públicos de Almería. Así, en Infantil se sitúa en 19,8 (frente al 20,5 del curso pasado), en Primaria en 20,7 y en Secundaria en 26,5. Estas cifras están por debajo de países como Francia, Reino Unido o Portugal, y en la media europea.

Los servicios complementarios aumentan en este curso en Almería con tres centros más que ofrecen aula matinal y tres nuevos centros autorizados para el comedor escolar. En total, 227 centros ofrecerán a las familias uno o más servicios complementarios. La previsión es que más del 70% de las familias tenga alguna bonificación en el comedor escolar (el 45% con gratuidad total), el 83% en el aula matinal y el 88% en actividades complementarias.
El transporte escolar será utilizado por más de 14.300 estudiantes. Además, este curso se pondrá en marcha un nuevo servicio de atención sanitaria en los centros educativos, que contará con 1.600 profesionales sanitarios y que permitirá atender las necesidades de salud de los alumnos, especialmente los que presenten patologías crónicas o alergias.

En cuanto a la educación secundaria, la ratio de alumnado por aula en España era de 25,7 en 2016, lo que también la coloca entre los ocho países de la UE con la ratio más alta en este nivel. La media de la OCDE era de 23 y la de la UE23 era de 21,9. Los países con las ratios más altas en secundaria eran México (33,3), Colombia (32,8) y Chile (31,8), mientras que los que tenían las ratios más bajas eran Luxemburgo (14), Estonia (14,5) y Letonia (14,9).
Como se puede observar, España tiene una ratio de alumnado por aula superior a la media tanto de la OCDE como de la UE23 en ambos niveles educativos. Por eso, algunos expertos recomiendan reducir el tamaño de las clases como una medida para mejorar el sistema educativo.
