El expediente para inscribir el Acueducto de Carcauz en el Catálogo General del Patrimonio Histórico Andaluz se inició mediante Resolución de 17 de junio de 2022, tras una solicitud presentada por el Ayuntamiento de Vícar. El objetivo es proteger y conservar este elemento patrimonial, que tiene una longitud aproximada de 8 kilómetros y consta de varios tramos con arcos, puentes y túneles. Su valor histórico, artístico y paisajístico lo convierten en un testimonio único de la ingeniería hidráulica en Andalucía.
