La portavoz de Junts, Míriam Nogueras, le hizo ver su malestar porque el líder socialista habló de “reencuentro, de perdón y de medidas de gracia”. Y le advirtió: “No intenten tentar a la suerte”. Entonces Sánchez le respondió cumpliendo la exigencia de dejar de hablar de “diálogo” para hablar de “negociación” y abandonó las alusiones al “reencuentro” para referirse al “conflicto político”.

¿Qué significa este cambio de lenguaje? Que Sánchez reconoce que hay un problema político que requiere una solución política, y no solo judicial o social. Que Sánchez admite que el Estado debe negociar con el Govern de la Generalitat, y no solo dialogar con la sociedad catalana. Que Sánchez se pliega a las demandas de los independentistas, y no solo les ofrece gestos de distensión.

Este gesto de Sánchez no es solo una muestra de debilidad, sino también de humillación. El candidato socialista ha cedido ante la presión de un partido que le acusa de “represor”, que le niega la legitimidad para ser presidente, que le exige un referéndum de autodeterminación y que le amenaza con romper el acuerdo si no cumple sus condiciones.

Sánchez ha demostrado que necesita el apoyo de Junts para ser investido, pero también que está dispuesto a pagar un alto precio por él. Un precio que puede poner en riesgo la convivencia, la legalidad y la unidad de España. Un precio que puede generar un profundo malestar en el resto de socios parlamentarios, especialmente en el PSOE y en Unidas Podemos, que no comparten la visión ni los objetivos de Junts.
Sánchez ha perdido una oportunidad de oro para reafirmar su proyecto de país, para defender la Constitución, para apelar al sentido común y al espíritu de concordia. En vez de eso, ha optado por ceder al chantaje de Junts, por cambiar su discurso en pleno debate, por humillarse ante sus socios independentistas.
