Estas obras son vitales para el desarrollo económico y social de nuestra provincia y de toda la zona mediterránea, que representa el 44% del PIB y el 50% de las exportaciones españolas. Sin embargo, llevan años de retrasos y de incumplimientos por parte de los sucesivos gobiernos, que no han priorizado ni dotado de suficientes recursos a estas infraestructuras. Incluso cuando el PSOE llegó a anunciar más de 500 millones de euros en un solo año, acabó invirtiendo menos de un tercio.
El último ejemplo de esta dejadez es el anuncio de uno de los anteriores ministros, José Luis Ábalos, el primero que Sánchez puso en esta cartera, de que el AVE no llegará a Almería en 2023 como estaba previsto, sino en 2025 o 2026. Esto supuso un nuevo varapalo para los almerienses, que llevan décadas esperando una conexión ferroviaria de calidad con el resto del país y de Europa.

El Corredor Mediterráneo es una infraestructura ferroviaria inacabada que conectará viajeros y mercancías desde nuestras comunidades mediterráneas con toda Europa. Se trata de un proyecto estratégico que generará empleo, riqueza y competitividad, además de contribuir a la sostenibilidad y a la cohesión territorial.
No podemos permitir que el cambio de ministro sea una excusa para retrasar aún más el proyecto del AVE a Almería y las obras correspondientes del Corredor Mediterráneo. Es hora de que el Gobierno cumpla con sus compromisos y con las demandas de la sociedad civil y empresarial, que lleva años reclamando la finalización de estas infraestructuras con el movimiento #QuieroCorredor, que recibió con un abucheo en la asamblea que celebraban en Madrid, la investidura de Sánchez.

Almería se merece un transporte ferroviario moderno, eficiente y seguro, que la conecte con el resto de España y de Europa. No podemos seguir siendo la última provincia en recibir las inversiones que necesitamos. El Corredor Mediterráneo no puede esperar más.
