La APA adjudica el estudio de impacto socioeconómico de los puertos de Almería y Carboneras a la Universidad de Almería
Las siete autoridades portuarias ubicadas en la comunidad andaluza han mostrado sus sinergias durante la ‘Jornada sobre la investigación del impacto socioeconómico de los puertos de Andalucía’, celebrada en la Universidad de Cádiz e inaugurada por el consejero de Universidad, Investigación e Innovación, José Carlos Gómez Villamandos, quien ha anunciado que la consejería que lidera impulsará un estudio conjunto, cuyo objetivo es visibilizar el potencial de estos enclaves y la importancia del transporte marítimo en la economía andaluza.

Gómez Villamandos ha recalcado que esta labor se complementará con la que llevan a cabo de forma individual las autoridades portuarias en colaboración con las universidades, “de forma que este estudio se realizará de forma coordinada con la red de puertos y con criterios homogéneos para garantizar una aplicación correcta de la metodología acordada y la consolidación de los datos, posibilitando el análisis comparativo entre las distintas autoridades portuarias”.
El consejero se ha mostrado convencido de que “este trabajo ayudará a destacar la proyección y el peso que tienen nuestros puertos en el conjunto de Andalucía y en el panorama nacional, así como para resaltar su valor estratégico en la Unión Europea”.

“Conocer el impacto económico de la Autoridad Portuaria de Almería (APA) permitirá saber objetivamente el empleo y el valor añadido bruto que genera, así como el grado de dependencia de la provincia y de Andalucía de sus puertos para su puesta en común. Es esencial conocer de dónde partimos para avanzar como motor de riqueza”, ha señalado la presidenta de la APA, Rosario Soto, quien ha trasladado que la APA ya ha adjudicado la elaboración del estudio a la Universidad de Almería, al grupo liderado por la profesora titular de Economía, Almudena Guarnido.
Como ha detallado Soto, el estudio reflejará la aportación de los puertos de Almería y Carboneras al conjunto andaluz. “Somos la tercera autoridad portuaria más rentable en Andalucía y la decimosegunda del sistema portuario español; prevemos cerrar 2023 con un incremento del 50% en beneficios, lo que nos permite hacer importantes inversiones y promover grandes proyectos que van a generar numerosos puestos de trabajo, tanto durante su ejecución como posteriormente, además de valor a la región”, ha dicho la presidenta quien ha participado en la mesa institucional de la jornada. Rosario Soto ha recordado que la APA prevé en torno a 80 millones de inversión público-privada en el próximo año en infraestructuras como la ampliación del Muelle de Pechina en Almería, la construcción de un nuevo muelle en Carboneras o la integración urbana del puerto-ciudad.

Cooperación entre los puertos del Estado y la Junta de Andalucía
El consejero de Universidad, Investigación e Innovación ha recalcado el “gran momento de cooperación que existe entre los puertos del Estado y la Junta de Andalucía” y ha mostrado también la intención de su departamento de colaborar con los puertos del Estado, junto a otras instituciones, en materia de investigación sobre digitalización y en relación a la implantación de gemelos digitales para la gestión de los puertos.

Según el último informe realizado por la Agencia Pública de Puertos de Andalucía en 2017 basándose en datos de 2014, las siete autoridades portuarias andaluzas aportaban individualmente al PIB de Andalucía 5.695 millones de euros, lo que representaba el 4,3% del PIB regional y el 3,1% de empleo en Andalucía. En términos relativos, la contribución total de los puertos andaluces era el triple que la contribución directa de sectores como, por ejemplo, las telecomunicaciones.
