La actividad ha sido presentada por el alcalde de Huércal de Almería, Ismael Torres, quien ha estado acompañado por la concejala de Cultura, Almudena Serrano, y el presidente de la asociación, José Palenzuela. Torres ha destacado que “este Certamen de Pintura es una de las actividades con más tradición en nuestro municipio y es al mismo tiempo una de las más bonitas, en las que podemos apreciar cómo pintores llegados desde toda la provincia, pero también de fuera, ven nuestra ciudad a través de sus pinceles, y cómo esta queda reflejada en sus lienzos”. Además, “hacerlo al aire libre supone sacar el arte a la calle y dar a conocer a nuestros vecinos, visitantes y a la sociedad cómo es el trabajo que realizan estos grandes artistas y poder admirar su obra in situ”, ha señalado.

La temática del certamen será ‘Huércal de Almería y su entorno’. Los participantes tendrán que sellar sus soportes en el Teatro Multiusos el día de la celebración del evento, entre las 9:00 y las 11:30 horas. Desde allí, cada uno se desplazará hasta el lugar que considere más apropiado para dar vida a su obra, que será entregada entre las 17:00 y las 18:00 horas en el mismo Teatro.

Podrán participar todos los pintores que lo deseen, con una edad mínima de 18 años. Habrá un primer premio de 1.500 euros y un segundo premio de 1.000 euros, así como otro de 600 euros para el premio a la mejor acuarela, que de quedar desierto se concedería a un tercer premio general. Los dos primeros premios provinciales recibirán 600 y 500 euros, respectivamente, y habrá otros dos premios, de 400 euros cada uno, para el mejor juvenil (participante de 18 a 25 años) y el mejor local (empadronados en el municipio), no siendo estos premios acumulables.
Todas las obras presentadas quedarán expuestas en el Party Center de la plaza de la Constitución del 2 al 5 de mayo, durante la celebración de las fiestas patronales de Huércal de Almería en honor a San José.
