En tono irónico el consejero dijo entender que Sánchez Teruel no hablara con Puertos del Estado "para decirle que los dineros que le está pidiendo la autoridad portuaria de Almería, dedícalos, porque hay un 2% para esto. El parlamentario autonómico por el PSOE de Almería José Luis Sánchez Teruel ha reprochado al Partido Popular un nuevo “incumplimiento” con Almería; en esta ocasión, en materia de patrimonio. Esa misma voluntad es a la que apela el PSOE ahora evocando que este partido ha sido el artífice de las dos fases de rehabilitación del Cable Inglés. La primera de las intervenciones en el Cargadero del Mineral fue en 2009 y se hizo para conservar el muelle de carga, mientras que la última, para conservar la plataforma de acceso, la lideró la Autoridad Portuaria siendo Mari Carmen Ortiz presidenta, y ha sido ejecutada entre 2019 y 2023 con fondos del Gobierno de España.
“Queda pendiente una tercera fase prevista en el proyecto pagado por la Junta de Andalucía para habilitar más de 8.000 metros cuadrados en el interior del Cargadero para dar un uso cultural, lúdico y comercial a su interior”, ha argumentado y ha recordado que desde que el Cable Inglés es accesible “ya le pisa los talones a la Alcazaba de Almería en cuanto número de visitantes” por lo que cree que supone un valor turístico destacado en la capital.

En cuanto al Cable Francés, Sánchez Teruel ha descrito que se encuentra “abandonado” tras un boceto para transformarlo en un paseo lineal de 300 metros que en 2017 hizo el Ayuntamiento de Almería. “Son representantes del Partido Popular los que están al frente del ayuntamiento, de la Autoridad portuaria y de la Junta de Andalucía desde hace 5 años”, ha insistido y les ha afeado que “todos han hablado mucho, pero jamás ningún representante institucional del PP ha liderado ninguna fase de rehabilitación de ninguno de los cables”, elementos patrimoniales a los que ha invitado al consejero a visitar, así como a hacerse un “selfie”.

El parlamentario socialista ha lamentado que “incumplimientos” como estos son los que hacen que “las y los almerienses se sientan decepcionados con Juanma Moreno” y ha pedido a las administraciones con competencia gobernadas por el PP que “hablen entre ustedes, que se comprometan, que soliciten la colaboración del Gobierno de España si es necesario” para “cumplir” con las promesas dadas. “La rehabilitación del Cable Inglés es la historia de una rehabilitación inacabada, y el Cable Francés está abandonado, y Almería se merece que estén totalmente rehabilitados”, ha defendido.
