Concedido proyecto de restauración del Río Andarax en Almería por 2.5 millones de euros
La Junta de Andalucía, mediante la Consejería de Agricultura, Pesca, Agua y Desarrollo Rural, ha concedido el proyecto de restauración del Río Andarax en Almería a la UTE Grupo Copsa-Calares Obras, Servicios y Medioambiente. El contrato, valorado en 2.580.000 euros, busca asegurar la adaptación del río y aumentar su resistencia ante los impactos del cambio climático. La financiación proviene completamente del Mecanismo de Recuperación y Resiliencia (MRR) y responde a las intensas lluvias causadas por una DANA en septiembre de 2019, que comprometieron la capacidad de drenaje del río debido a la erosión y los escombros arrastrados.

El proceso de licitación atrajo hasta 25 ofertas de empresas y consorcios interesados en realizar el proyecto, valorado en más de 3,4 millones de euros, con un plazo de ejecución de 18 meses una vez iniciadas las obras, de acuerdo con la resolución de adjudicación reportada por Europa Press.
Específicamente, el gobierno de Andalucía planea intervenir en el dominio público hidráulico y sus zonas de protección, lo que implica la limpieza de 17,5 kilómetros del cauce del río y un área de 106,46 hectáreas, como se detalla en la memoria del proyecto.

Según las previsiones de la Junta, la obra beneficiará a más de 15.000 residentes de las localidades de Alhabia, Alhama de Almería, Benahadux, Gádor, Rioja y Santa Fe de Mondújar.
El propósito del proyecto es doble: por un lado, implementar medidas "preventivas" para "minimizar o mitigar" futuras inundaciones y los daños potenciales a la agricultura local que podrían resultar de lluvias intensas; y por otro, valorizar el patrimonio natural y etnográfico del río Andarax, ligado a un dominio público hidráulico de "excepcional valor ecológico".

También se realizarán mejoras en la morfología del lecho del río para asegurar el "adecuado drenaje de crecidas" y "disminuir las obstrucciones por sedimentación". Se definirán los límites de las riberas para reducir "el riesgo de inundaciones para las explotaciones agrícolas".
