El Colegio Oficial de Graduados e Ingenieros Técnicos Industriales de Almería (COGITIAL) ha distinguido al alumno Juan José López Sánchez con el premio al ‘Mejor Trabajo Fin de Grado’ que concede desde hace quince años la entidad colegial que preside Francisco Lores Llamas. El trabajo se titula “Proyecto de instalación generadora de hidrógeno líquido alimentada con energía solar fotovoltaica” y ha contado con los profesores Alfredo Alcaide García y Francisco Manuel Arrabal Campos como tutores.

Este reconocimiento se dio a conocer en el marco de la celebración de puestas de Insignias a los alumnos de la promoción de la titulación de grado en Ingeniería Eléctrica, Electrónica Industrial y Automática, Mecánica y Química Industrial de la Universidad de Almería celebrado hace unas semanas, y cuya dotación económica ha sido entregada hace unos días por el vicedecano de COGITIAL, Luis López, en la sede colegial, en nombre del decano, Francisco Lores.
El jurado valoró positivamente tanto el contenido, como la originalidad, utilidad y presentación del trabajo. A este galardón pudieron acceder los Graduados e Ingenieros Técnicos Industriales de la Universidad de Almería que hubieran presentado su Trabajo Fin de Grado, entre las fechas de 1 de abril de 2023 y 31 de marzo de 2024, en cualquiera de las modalidades admitidas por la Escuela Politécnica Superior de la UAL.

Juan José López Sánchez asegura que “considero muy importante y acertado que el COGITIAL dedique tiempo a los nuevos graduados, y en valorar el trabajo hecho en el TFG. Agradezco enormemente el reconocimiento del Colegio. Ahora, espero poder utilizar la colegiación y firmar algún proyecto próximamente, aunque estos años seguiré formándome. López Sánchez detalla cómo ha sido todo el proceso para un proyecto apasionante. “La idea fue de mi tutor del TFG y profesor, Francisco Manuel Arrabal. En ese momento estaba haciendo experimentos sobre resonancia magnética nuclear, y utilizan el nitrógeno líquido para enfriar las muestras. El edificio en el que hacen esos ensayos tiene una instalación interior de nitrógeno líquido y gas, y se abastece a través de un depósito de 6.000 litros instalado fuera, que se rellena periódicamente a través de un camión que (según justifiqué en el TFG) viene de Valencia. Con objeto de evitar la dependencia de una empresa externa por temas de suministro, resultó interesante, al menos desde el punto de vista didáctico, contemplar la idea de producir el nitrógeno líquido in-situ, y además hacer una planta fotovoltaica para complementar al suministro eléctrico”.

Los equipos de generación de nitrógeno líquido son comerciales, y sobre todo para pequeñas cantidades son fáciles de encontrar. Son equipos del estilo para llenar botellas. Para el caso del problema planteado, los requerimientos de abastecimiento son órdenes de magnitud mayores al que proporcionan estas soluciones. La instalación requiere 400L/día de nitrógeno líquido. Teniendo en cuenta el gran consumo energético, la instalación de producción fotovoltaica se justifica fácilmente según criterios económicos, e incluso llega a ser inviable este proyecto de no ser por el aporte energético que hace y el ahorro que supone al no tener que comprar esa energía de la red.

El ganador del premio a mejor TFG concluye afirmando que “este proyecto sería aún más viable de poder instalar más potencia fotovoltaica o de otro origen renovable; y acompañándolo con almacenamiento para depender lo menos posible de la red, siempre que el precio del almacenamiento sea el correcto. Dependerá del caso específico de cada industria en la que utilicen este producto, pero es bastante probable que proyectos similares al estudiado en el TFG puedan ser interesantes; si bien de considerarlos individualmente (instalación de generación de nitrógeno por un lado; y instalación solar fotovoltaica por otro) podría no serlo tanto”.
