Los beneficios procedentes del sector turístico son la excusa perfecta para permitir el deterioro de la naturaleza y la turistificación de las ciudades y costas andaluzas. Andalucía es actualmente la región con más alquileres turísticos de toda Europa según Eurostat y cuya regulación no se ha producido hasta que su cifra ha sobrepasado los 117.000 viviendas turísticas. Las consecuencias son claras: disminución de viviendas para el alquiler de larga duración, incremento de precios de los alquileres, pérdida de población en centros históricos y en poblaciones costeras, gentrificación y deterioro de los espacios naturales. A ello hay que sumar que los beneficios para quienes habitan las ciudades cada vez están menos repartidos y que los sueldos en el sector turístico están por debajo de la media nacional, especialmente en Andalucía, que ocupa el último lugar según los datos del INE.

La costa andaluza presenta zonas que ya están gravemente afectadas por la erosión, especialmente en Málaga. Allí el tramo entre el parador Málaga Golf y la barriada de Guadalmar está en situación de regresión grave, especialmente en la zona del Arraijanal. En situación similar se encuentra un tramo de un kilómetro en la desembocadura del río Vélez en Vélez-Málaga (1).

Soluciones para la costa
Es urgente hacer frente a estos riesgos. Tan sólo con una reducción moderada de las emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero se podría evitar el 40% del retroceso de las playas de todo el mundo. Las soluciones han de ser locales, porque cada tramo de litoral tiene características propias, pero deben ser acordadas por las administraciones y participadas por la ciudadanía de forma urgente. Proteger y conservar las playas supondría un beneficio 150 veces superior a dejar que sigan deteriorándose.
