Las instalaciones deportivas ubicadas en el enclave del Delta del Andarax, recuperados para el disfrute de la ciudad por el Ayuntamiento de Almería como espacio de ocio, lúdico y deportivo, ha acogido la celebración, el pasado viernes, del I Open de AirBadminton, novedoso torneo de bádmintón playa para esta Feria de Almería que ha contado con la participación de 39 deportistas, distribuidos en equipos en las categorías cadete y absoluto.

Una modalidad en la que el badminton se traslada a espacios al aire libre y que, en el caso de Almería, se ha trasladado a las instalaciones de arena creadas junto al Delta del Andarax. Una prueba más del impulso que el Ayuntamiento de Almería, a través del Área de Ciudad Activa, Movilidad y Deporte y del Patronato Municipal de Deportes, se pretende de las actividades deportivas al aire libre.
En este caso, y sirviéndose de las nuevas pistas de arena con las que cuenta el nuevo espacio libre del margen izquierdo del río Andarax, en su desembocadrua, esta modalidad deportiva ha estrenado torneo con ocasión de esta Feria.

El AirBadminton ofrece la oportunidad de practicar un deporte, que en nuestro país cuenta con el referente de la campeona mundial, Carolina Marín, sobre arena, hierba y cualquier superficie al aire libre, sin límite de edad. La prueba, disputada finalmente este viernes, hubi de ser suspendida previamente por el viento, principal condicionante que tiene esta disciplina en el caso de su celebración al aire libre.
XXIV Open de Bádminton Feria 2024
A esta novedosa actividad se ha sumado, también en Feria, la ya tradicional competición “indoor” disputada, en este caso, en el Pabellón José Antonio Segura. La XXIV edición del Open de Bádminton ha contado, en este 2024, con la participación de 94 deportistas, masculinos y femeninos y en diferentes categorías, desde benjamín a la absoluta. Más de cien partidos se han disputado en la edición de este Open.

Junto al anfitrión del torneo, Mercapinturas, y la presencia también del club almeriense Alborán (Adra), han participado además clubes procedentes de otras localidades y provincias españolas: Jaén, Córdoba, Arjonilla, El Campello, Vélez Málaga, Estepona, Collado Villalba, Madrid, Rinconada o Las Torres de Cotillas.
Una edición y competición más que ha servido “para medir el nivel de nuestros judadores, que han copado prácticamente el pódium en todas las categorías disputadas”, destacaba el presidente del Club Mercapinturas de Bádminton, Fernando Carrillo, subrayando el compromiso que además tiene este club por hacer del bádminton “un deporte cada día más inclusivo, junto al apoyo que en esta labor viene prestando el Ayuntamiento de Almería”.

Por su parte el concejal de Ciudad Actica, Movilidad Urbana y Deporte, Antonio Jesús Casimiro, ha valorado como muy positiva la experiencia de este año “con la práctica de una competición indoor, el tradicional Open de Bádminton, y la novedosa disputa del torneo de bádminton playa, otra de las disciplinas de playa que queremos seguir impulsando desde el Área y el Patronato Municipal de Deportes.
