Cerca de 5.000 personas han podido disfrutar de un verano activo gracias a las clases gratuitas de gimnasia de mantenimiento al aire libre que ha impulsado el Ayuntamiento de El Ejido a través del Instituto Municipal de Deportes, y que se han celebrado en distintos emplazamientos durante los meses de julio y agosto. Esta actividad ha formado parte del programa estival del IMD, que ha ofrecido además otras propuestas, como deportes acuáticos, atletismo, petanca, o cicloturismo.

Entre el 2 de julio y el 23 de agosto han tenido lugar las clases de gimnasia de mantenimiento sin coste para los usuarios ni necesidad de inscripción previa. Se han celebrado en Almerimar, Balerma, El Ejido y Santa María del Águila, repartidas en diferentes turnos y horarios con el objetivo de llegar al mayor número de practicantes.
“Hemos contado con participantes de distintas edades, tanto ejidenses como visitantes, aunque fundamentalmente es una actividad muy demandada por el colectivo de mayores, ya que les permite mantenerse activos y motivados, y esto incide directamente en la mejora de su salud y calidad de vida”, ha valorado la edil de Deportes, María José Martín.

La concejala se ha mostrado “muy satisfecha por el desarrollo de nuestro programa veraniego, que ha contado con una alta participación y mucha variedad de propuestas con el objetivo de fomentar los hábitos saludables, que no tienen que interrumpirse por la llegada del verano”. Al hilo, ha recordado que “el periodo de inscripciones para las Escuelas Deportivas Municipales permanece abierto” y ha considerado que “es una forma ideal de seguir practicando deporte durante todo el año, con todos los beneficios para la salud física y mental que lleva consigo”.

En el caso de Almerimar, se ha podido practicar gimnasia de mantenimiento por las tardes tres días a la semana (lunes, miércoles y viernes) y por las mañanas los otros días (martes y jueves), por lo que se ha cubierto toda la semana. Se ha celebrado junto al mar, en el Parque Brisamar (tardes) y en el Campo de Rugby (mañanas).

Tres días a la semana ha habido clases en Balerma, también al aire libre, en el Parque El Palmeral y en horario matinal. En cuanto a El Ejido, han tenido lugar en las pistas anexas al Pabellón, igualmente tres días a la semana. Y en Santa María del Águila ha habido dos turnos semanales, teniendo lugar esta actividad en la Plaza Menorca.
