La Consejería de Agricultura, Pesca, Agua y Desarrollo Rural ha llevado a cabo recientemente una nueva operación contra la pesca ilegal en la provincia de Huelva a través de la Agencia de Gestión Agraria y Pesquera de Andalucía (Agapa). En el marco de esta actuación, los efectivos de Inspección Pesquera han incautado ocho artes de pesca ilegales en la costa de Isla Cristina y el término municipal de Lepe. En total, se han decomisado 500 metros de redes caladas desde la playa de La Antilla hasta Isla Cristina.
Esta operación forma parte del plan de vigilancia y control pesquero que la Junta de Andalucía desarrolla de manera habitual para combatir la actividad pesquera ilegal o furtivismo. La utilización de artes no reglamentarias no sólo supone una infracción grave de la normativa vigente, con sanciones que pueden oscilar entre los 301 y los 60.000 euros, sino que también representa una amenaza para la conservación de los recursos marinos y la sostenibilidad del sector pesquero profesional.

La Inspección Pesquera en Huelva cuenta con el apoyo del Centro Andaluz de Control y Calidad de los Recursos Pesqueros, ubicado en Cartaya, que desempeña un papel clave en la coordinación técnica y operativa de las inspecciones en la comunidad autónoma. Entre sus funciones destacan la ejecución del Plan Anual de Inspección Pesquera de Andalucía, la planificación de operativos especiales de control y la coordinación con las Fuerzas y Cuerpos de Seguridad del Estado, en especial con la Guardia Civil a través del Plan Anual de Control Integral de las Actividades Pesqueras.
Además, el centro gestiona los decomisos de productos pesqueros, monitoriza la actividad a través del Sistema de Localización y Seguimiento de Embarcaciones Pesqueras de Andalucía y centraliza toda la información a través de la aplicación informática de Planificación de la Inspección Pesquera.
