Expertos del OAN insisten en que nunca debe mirarse directamente al Sol, ni siquiera durante el eclipse, sin protección adecuada. Gafas de sol convencionales, cámaras, telescopios sin filtros homologados o métodos caseros como cristales ahumados suponen un riesgo grave para la visión. La opción más segura es utilizar «gafas de eclipse» certificadas (normativa ISO 12312-2) o proyectar la imagen del Sol sobre una superficie sombreada, como una cartulina blanca.
