El concejal de Ciudad Activa, Movilidad Urbana y Deporte, Antonio Casimiro, ha visitado esta instalación, por la que ha circulado, en primer lugar en bicicleta, el concejal de Sostenibilidad Ambiental Antonio Urdiales, y ha expresado que “desde el Ayuntamiento trabajamos en movilidad urbana para caminar hacia una ciudad más sostenible y saludable, y una de las acciones principales son los carriles urbanos, disponiendo los almerienses de 90 kilómetros para conectar la ciudad en bicicleta. El contador de bicicletas que hoy inauguramos nos permitirá analizar si las políticas que realizamos están realmente funcionando e incrementando el uso de medios de transporte sostenibles como la bicicleta”.

Paralelamente, se han realizado actuaciones de mejora de la superficie y visibilidad en el carril bici del Paseo Marítimo y de la avenida Padre Méndez. En el caso del Paseo Marítimo, con la salinidad, resbalaba la bicicleta. Para evitarlo, ee ha mejorado la fricción y seguridad.
