La Fundación de Arte Ibáñez Cosentino ha rubricado hoy un trascendental acuerdo de comodato con Encarnación Ortega Almansa, viuda del escultor e imaginero Luis Álvarez Duarte (1950-2019), por el que la Fundación se convierte en depositaria de una amplísima y variada colección de más de 300 piezas del legado artístico del sevillano.

El acto de firma, celebrado en el Salón de Actos del Museo del Realismo Español Contemporáneo (MUREC), ha contado con la presencia del vicepresidente de la Diputación de Almería, Fernando Giménez, junto a Andrés G. Ibáñez y Santiago Alfonso, en representación de la Fundación Ibáñez Cosentino, y la propia Encarnación Ortega, como responsable de la Fundación Álvarez Duarte.
Este acuerdo es fundamental para la provincia y para el MUREC, ya que una parte sustancial de este legado se incorporará a su colección permanente y el museo acogerá la primera exposición retrospectiva sobre la prolífica producción de Álvarez Duarte.

La colección, única y singular, incluye más de 300 piezas entre esculturas (terracota policromada, barro, bronce y madera), dibujos, moldes, apuntes y bocetos, ofreciendo un completo recorrido por su trabajo desde la década de 1960 hasta muy cerca de su fallecimiento, abarcando tanto temática religiosa como profana.
Durante su intervención, el vicepresidente de Diputación, Fernando Giménez, ha expresado: "Es un gran honor poder acompañaros y ser testigos de un momento tan importante y crucial para el patrimonio artístico de la provincia como es la firma de este acuerdo de cesión”. Giménez ha resaltado que "el documento que hoy se firma en el Museo de Realismo Español Contemporáneo es trascendental para la provincia, porque esta Fundación 100% almeriense va a custodiar parte del legado del imaginero y escultor, y también para el MUREC".

La viuda de Álvarez Duarte ha destacado que es una inmensa alegría que el legado de su esposo se quede en la provincia de Almería, puesto que ella nació a pocos metros del MUREC en la Calla de la Reina. “La obra del artista una vez que fallece tiene que ser del gran público. Se conoce su trayectoria como imaginero, pero no se conocen muchas facetas de él”, ha asegurado.
Asimismo, ha agradecido a la Fundación y al equipo legal que hayan hecho posible que esta meta que se marcó hace 5 años hoy sea una realidad: “También agradecer a Diputación su apuesta por este proyecto arriesgado pero tan importante para la provincia de Almería”.
