La presidenta Soto resaltó la importancia de la coordinación entre administraciones y organizaciones no gubernamentales para asegurar un desarrollo óptimo durante la OPE. Agradeció especialmente a las Fuerzas y Cuerpos de Seguridad del Estado por su labor en un puerto que es frontera del espacio Schengen europeo, lo que exige altos estándares de seguridad. Resaltó también el trabajo realizado por la Policía Portuaria durante los meses estivales, cuando cerca del 70% del tráfico anual de pasajeros transita por estas instalaciones.
Datos relevantes sobre el tráfico portuario
Soto recordó que el Puerto de Almería ocupa el segundo lugar a nivel nacional en volumen de pasajeros durante la Operación Paso del Estrecho. En 2024, se registraron aproximadamente 700.000 pasajeros entre junio y septiembre, lo que representa un incremento del 22% respecto al año anterior. Asimismo, se contabilizaron 166.450 vehículos, lo que supone un aumento del 25% en comparación con 2023.
