La consejera de Cultura y Deporte, Patricia del Pozo, ha revelado que el proyecto de restauración de la Mezquita-Catedral de Córdoba, afectada por el incendio del pasado 8 de agosto, estará listo para su aprobación entre finales de septiembre e inicios de octubre. Este anuncio se produjo tras su visita a la zona siniestrada, donde se están llevando a cabo trabajos de emergencia. Si se cumplen los plazos previstos, la rehabilitación completa del monumento concluirá a mediados de 2026.

Durante su visita, Del Pozo subrayó que los técnicos de la Delegación Territorial de Cultura y Deporte y del Cabildo Catedral están trabajando conjuntamente en el diseño de las obras. Estas incluirán la reconstrucción de las cubiertas y la restauración del interior de las capillas que sufrieron daños por el fuego, así como la recuperación de sus bienes muebles. Además, se está considerando la recuperación de la Puerta de San Nicolás, integrándola en el recorrido accesible del monumento.
Supervisión y trabajo en equipo
Acompañada por el alcalde José María Bellido y el obispo Jesús Fernández González, Del Pozo supervisó los trabajos de emergencia que están próximos a finalizar. En esta labor participan un equipo amplio compuesto por 50 profesionales, incluyendo restauradores, arqueólogos y operarios especializados en albañilería y limpieza, todos bajo la dirección de arquitectos conservadores encargados de la Mezquita-Catedral.

Hasta ahora, se han realizado diversas tareas como el acopio y estudio de escombros, el desmontaje de estructuras dañadas en las cubiertas, así como la instalación de una sobrecubierta para proteger las capillas afectadas. También se han apuntalado columnas cercanas a la Puerta de San Nicolás y se ha procedido al pintado de las bóvedas manchadas por hollín debido al incendio.

Del Pozo enfatizó que «la Junta de Andalucía mantiene un diálogo permanente con el Cabildo Catedral y el Ayuntamiento de Córdoba para impulsar la rehabilitación» del emblemático monumento. La consejería autorizó inmediatamente la actuación de emergencia tras el incendio, y una vez que se complete la revisión del proyecto, se dará luz verde a los trabajos necesarios para restaurar las áreas afectadas.
