El alcalde Francisco Góngora recordó que “en 2011 este equipo de gobierno cogió las riendas de un Ayuntamiento que se encontraba en un estado de quiebra técnica, con una deuda heredada de 437 millones de euros”. El primer edil también subrayó que “se trata de una reducción más que considerable teniendo en cuenta que la liquidación del presupuesto de 2024 arrojó una ratio de endeudamiento del 94,16%”. La disminución del endeudamiento aprobada se financiará con el superávit obtenido en las cuentas del ejercicio anterior.
De esta forma, el Ayuntamiento destinará 2,6 millones de euros para cancelar préstamos con diversas entidades bancarias. Al finalizar este proceso, solo quedará un único préstamo activo relacionado con el Fondo de Financiación de Entidades Locales, cuyo monto será de aproximadamente 112.224.982,18 euros. De esta cantidad, se cancelarán anticipadamente 14.601.358,57 euros; además del pago correspondiente a la cuota del año 2025 por un importe de 7.014.062 euros. Esto permitirá comenzar el año 2026 con una deuda total de 90.600.000 euros.

José Francisco Rivera, concejal de Hacienda, enfatizó que este año se destinarán un total de 25,2 millones a continuar reduciendo la deuda heredada y más de 500.000 euros al pago de intereses. Esta suma es equivalente a los ingresos previstos por el padrón del IBI Urbano y la Plusvalía durante todo el año, alcanzando un total combinado cercano a los 25,7 millones. En cuanto a la gestión realizada por el Gobierno Local durante los últimos catorce años al frente del Ayuntamiento, Rivera informó que “a final de año habremos destinado al pago de amortización de préstamos e intereses más de 212 millones euros”, además de haber realizado pagos por otras obligaciones no financieras heredadas superiores a 46 millones. Aparte del pago directo a la deuda, también se ha llevado a cabo una importante labor en la gestión financiera para reducir los costos asociados. Aunque inicialmente se preveía abonar más de 104 millones, hasta ahora solo se han pagado alrededor de 44 millones. "El equipo de Gobierno del Ayuntamiento ha hecho sus deberes", afirmó Rivera. "Hemos sacado al Ayuntamiento adelante cumpliendo con el Plan de Ajuste". Además resaltó que actualmente El Ejido es uno dos municipios con mejor salud financiera tanto en Andalucía como en el ámbito nacional.
Permanencia fiscal estable y futuro sin deuda
A pesar del esfuerzo realizado para reducir la deuda municipal mediante austeridad y sacrificio personal, Rivera aclaró que esto no ha implicado un aumento impositivo: “la presión fiscal actual es similar o ligeramente inferior a la registrada en 2011”. Asimismo adelantó que existe la posibilidad real para eliminar completamente la deuda durante la próxima legislatura.
