El Gobierno de España ha proyectado una inversión superior a los 200 millones de euros destinada a reforzar la red de transporte eléctrico en la provincia de Almería, como parte del nuevo plan de desarrollo para el periodo 2025-2030. El diputado por el PSOE de Almería en el Congreso, Juan Antonio Lorenzo Cazorla, ha destacado que esta "importante planificación eléctrica" permitirá un "desarrollo exponencial de Almería" al mejorar "sustancialmente la calidad del servicio" y la capacidad de la red ante nuevas demandas de consumo. El diputado socialista ha señalado que las instalaciones de Antas y Benahadux jugarán un papel clave al posibilitar la electrificación del eje ferroviario entre Almería y Murcia. Adicionalmente, la subestación de Benahadux permitirá la ampliación de la conexión eléctrica con el Puerto de Almería. Lorenzo ha manifestado que este ambicioso plan "va a posicionar a nuestra provincia en la vanguardia del fluido eléctrico" y posibilitará el crecimiento industrial y económico con criterios de sostenibilidad. Ha concluido que esta inversión supone un gran aliciente para las empresas, la industria y la creación de empleo en la provincia, que contará con una red eléctrica potente junto a la próxima realidad de la línea de alta velocidad y las importantes obras en materia de agua.
