Este acto se llevó a cabo por el Grupo de Artillería de Campaña II de la Legión (GACALEGII), en el Campo de Maniobras Álvarez de Sotomayor. Como cada año, los componentes del GACALEG II, recuerdan a su compañero que encontró la muerte el 16 de noviembre de 2012. El Guion del Grupo de Artillería, los banderines de las baterías y la batería de honores, la Batería de Servicios como unidad de honores, a la que pertenecía nuestro querido subteniente, realizaron un sencillo acto a los caídos incluyendo una descarga de fusilería.

Este año el acto tuvo una especial relevancia al inaugurarse una placa conmemorativa situada en la pista de Ingenieros próxima a la zona donde tuvo lugar el fatídico accidente dentro del campo de maniobras Álvarez de Sotomayor. Cabe destacar que la placa en homenaje y recuerdo del subteniente Maldonado ha sido donada a esta unidad por la Asociación de Artilleros de Honor, lo que demuestra el estrecho vínculo y hermanamiento existente entre esta asociación de artilleros con el Grupo de artillería y la Brigada de la Legión.

En el acto estuvieron presentes familiares, amigos y compañeros con los que compartimos un emotivo recuerdo. Si algo caracteriza a esta Unidad, es su hermandad. Por eso es un acto imprescindible el que venimos realizando y realizaremos cada año.
El Subteniente Maldonado siempre ocupará un lugar especial dentro del Grupo de Artillería y en cada uno de nosotros, dejando una huella imborrable. Él fue claro ejemplo del espíritu legionario, poniendo siempre de manifiesto los valores que cualquier legionario aspira a alcanzar en su vida militar. Hoy y siempre, descansa en paz mi Subteniente. La Legión nunca olvida a sus muertos.
