Sin embargo, todavía existen obstáculos silenciosos que limitan este acceso a la vida social. La falta de oportunidades en el ocio comunitario, la escasez de espacios accesibles y la poca cultura de interacción natural con la diversidad siguen marcando distancias. Distancias que, si no se combaten, se convierten en soledades estructurales.
Desde Down Almería trabajamos para romper este círculo. Creamos redes de apoyo afectivo y social a través de actividades deportivas, talleres culturales, quedadas y propuestas de ocio que desarrollamos tanto en la asociación como en espacios públicos y privados de la provincia. Lo hacemos porque creemos en los vínculos, porque sabemos que la inclusión no se mide en leyes, sino en relaciones. Y porque cada encuentro es una oportunidad para que nazca algo tan sencillo —y tan poderoso— como una amistad.

Hoy, en el Día Internacional de las Personas con Discapacidad, lanzo un llamamiento claro: la soledad no se combate acompañando, sino creando oportunidades para que la compañía surja de forma natural y duradera. Necesitamos a la ciudadanía, a las instituciones, a las empresas. Necesitamos voluntariado, necesitamos espacios abiertos, necesitamos una provincia consciente de que la diversidad no resta: suma.
La soledad no deseada es una barrera tan limitante como la falta de accesibilidad física. Nos corresponde como sociedad derribarla con la misma determinación.
