La provincia de Almería deberá adoptar la nueva baliza V16 conectada como dispositivo obligatorio de señalización de emergencia en carretera a partir del 1 de enero de 2026. Según los datos facilitados hoy por la Dirección General de Tráfico, un total de 497.418 vehículos en la provincia estarán obligados a llevar este dispositivo luminoso que sustituye a los tradicionales dos triángulos de emergencia, los cuales se colocaban delante y detrás del vehículo inmovilizado.

El subdelegado del Gobierno en Almería, José María Martín, y el jefe provincial de Tráfico, José María Méndez, han presentado las novedades de este dispositivo. Martín ha explicado que la principal motivación de la medida, aprobada por el Consejo de Ministros en 2021, es incrementar la seguridad vial al evitar que los conductores deban abandonar sus vehículos para colocar los triángulos, una acción que conlleva riesgo de atropello. El subdelegado ha alertado de que anualmente fallecen alrededor de 25 personas en el Estado español mientras intentan señalizar una avería, y esta cifra se pretende atajar con el nuevo dispositivo. Además de ofrecer mayor protección a conductores y ocupantes, la baliza también permite alertar a otros usuarios de la vía, ya que transmite un aviso que se visualiza en los navegadores y en los paneles de mensaje variable.
El jefe provincial de Tráfico ha detallado la obligatoriedad por tipo de vehículo en la provincia. La baliza será obligatoria para 396.485 turismos, 57.001 camiones, 43.072 furgonetas, 860 autobuses y 2.325 vehículos históricos. En el caso de las 53.168 motocicletas, aunque no es obligatorio, se recomienda su uso por motivos de seguridad. Méndez ha indicado que el dispositivo debe guardarse cargado en la guantera o en un lugar accesible dentro del habitáculo.

La baliza V16 es un dispositivo de color amarillo con conectividad, capaz de emitir una luz de alta intensidad de 360 grados de forma intermitente durante al menos 30 minutos. Incorpora una pila o batería con una vida útil mínima de 18 meses. La principal característica de este sistema es su funcionamiento automático. Una vez que el conductor lo enciende y lo sitúa en la parte superior del vehículo —utilizando generalmente un imán potente para adherirse al techo—, la baliza emite una señal luminosa y transmite de forma automática la ubicación exacta del vehículo averiado a la plataforma DGT 3.0. Esta conectividad se realiza a través de un chip GPS y una tarjeta SIM no extraíble que incluye el dispositivo, sin necesidad de usar el teléfono móvil ni aplicaciones, y sin coste de conectividad para el particular, ya que la legislación garantiza una disponibilidad mínima de 12 años, cuyo coste está incluido en el precio de venta.
Hasta el 1 de enero de 2026, los conductores de Almería han podido utilizar los triángulos o las balizas con o sin conexión, pero a partir de esa fecha solo se considerarán legales los dispositivos V16 que estén conectados a la plataforma DGT 3.0.

La implantación de la baliza V16 conectada, que será obligatoria en Almería a partir del 1 de enero de 2026, está intrínsecamente ligada al funcionamiento de la plataforma tecnológica DGT 3.0, el sistema diseñado por la Dirección General de Tráfico del Estado español para gestionar la información de movilidad y la seguridad vial en tiempo real. Este sistema actúa como el eje central que permite transformar la señal luminosa de una avería en un aviso digital inmediato para otros conductores.
La baliza V16 conectada incluye en su interior un chip GPS y una tarjeta SIM no extraíble que se activa de forma automática al encender el dispositivo. Esta tecnología permite al dispositivo emitir una señal con su ubicación exacta a la plataforma DGT 3.0. La plataforma, una vez recibida la información del vehículo inmovilizado en la provincia de Almería o en cualquier punto del Estado español, procesa esta información y la transmite a los diferentes usuarios de la vía.

El objetivo es doble. Por un lado, permite a la Dirección General de Tráfico tener conocimiento inmediato de la incidencia para movilizar los servicios de auxilio y gestionar el tráfico. Por otro lado, y como elemento crucial para la seguridad, la DGT 3.0 difunde el aviso de vehículo parado a través de diversos canales. Esto incluye el envío de información a los paneles de mensaje variable situados en las carreteras de la provincia de Almería y, lo que resulta más novedoso, la notificación directa a los navegadores GPS y aplicaciones de conducción que utilizan los otros vehículos que se aproximan a la zona afectada, permitiendo a los conductores reducir la velocidad y extremar la precaución con antelación.

Respecto a la colocación de la baliza en vehículos de gran tamaño, como camiones y autobuses —de los que circulan 57.001 y 860, respectivamente, en Almería—, el procedimiento exige que el conductor encienda la baliza V16 y la sitúe en la parte más alta del vehículo para maximizar su visibilidad y la eficacia de la señal GPS. Si no es posible adherirla al techo por la altura, se puede optar por colocarla en la puerta del conductor o en un lugar que permita su uso sin invadir la calzada o el arcén, siendo crucial activar también las luces de emergencia del vehículo para señalizar la situación.
