El Consejo de Estudiantes de la Universidad de Almería (CEUAL) ha convocado un paro académico general para el próximo miércoles, 11 de diciembre, en protesta por la "grave infrafinanciación" que, según denuncian, padece la institución debido al actual modelo de financiación establecido por la Junta de Andalucía. La convocatoria de protesta afectará a todos los centros de la UAL y se llevará a cabo en el pasillo central de 13:00 a 14:00 horas.

La institución almeriense recibe 7.803 euros por estudiante, lo que la sitúa como la universidad de la Comunidad Autónoma con la menor financiación por alumno, quedando además la tercera peor financiada en el ámbito del Estado español. Esta cifra se encuentra significativamente por debajo tanto de la media andaluza, que asciende a 8.709 euros, como de la media nacional, que alcanza los 9.397 euros.

El Consejo de Estudiantes argumenta que la financiación no ha crecido al mismo ritmo que los gastos que asume la Universidad de Almería, a pesar de que la institución afronta cada vez mayores costes derivados de la inflación, el aumento del número de estudiantes, la actualización de salarios del profesorado y el incremento de las necesidades en áreas como becas, servicios e infraestructuras.

La situación de desventaja financiera, según el organismo estudiantil, tiene un impacto directo en la vida de la comunidad universitaria, compuesta por más de 14.000 estudiantes, afectando desde la disponibilidad de becas y servicios hasta la posibilidad de mejorar las instalaciones y ampliar la plantilla de profesorado. Mediante este llamamiento a la acción, el estudiantado exige a la Junta de Andalucía una financiación "justa y estable" y un compromiso firme que permita a la Universidad de Almería avanzar y ofrecer una educación pública que sea de calidad, moderna y competitiva respecto al resto del sistema universitario.
