El escándalo del fraude en el voto por correo, cuyos principales exponentes han sido Melilla y Mojácar (Almería), ha tenido una primera consecuencia, y es que personas que había solicitado esta modalidad, han decidido no hacerla. Eso, o lo que también es probable, que algunos de esos votos fuesen a ser tramitados -"pagados" o simplemente como favor personal, o a modo de colaboración- por otras personas, y a raíz de lo sucedido han preferido no hacerlo por si acaso.

A pocas horas de las elecciones municipales del domingo, 1.685 almerienses han cambiado de opinión y han decidido no ejercer su derecho al voto por correo, pese a haberlo solicitado previamente en las oficinas postales.
Según los últimos datos facilitados por Correos este mismo viernes, el número de votos por correo admitidos en Almería es de 17.745, una cifra inferior a las 19.430 solicitudes presentadas inicialmente. De ellas 14.747 fueron presenciales y 4.683 telemáticas. En 2019 se presentaron 18.311 solicitudes para el voto por correo, lo que significa un aumento del 6,8%, según se resumió en una nota de prensa.
